Terms
Terms of Service
Short version: use Mealhive in good faith, don't try to break it or abuse it, and we'll do our best to keep it working for you. The app is provided as-is. If you don't like the terms, just delete your account.
Who you're agreeing with
These terms are between you and the small team that operates Mealhive ("we", "us"). By signing up or using the app at app.mealhive.app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Mealhive.
Your account
- You need to be at least 16 to create an account on your own.
- One account per person. Households share content through the in-app Household feature, not by sharing logins.
- You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for anything that happens under your account.
- Tell us promptly if you think your account has been accessed without permission.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.
- Scrape data, probe the API outside the normal app flows, or build automated bots against Mealhive without our written permission.
- Upload content you don't have the right to use (recipes you've copied wholesale from a copyrighted source, for example).
- Upload content that's illegal, abusive, harmful, or designed to harass others.
- Use Mealhive to attack other services or distribute malware.
- Use the app in ways that violate applicable laws.
If you do any of the above, we may suspend or terminate your account without notice.
Your content stays yours
Recipes, plans, photos, and everything else you put into Mealhive belong to you. By using the app, you grant us a limited license to store, display, and process that content solely to provide Mealhive to you (and to your household members where you've shared with them). That license ends when you delete your content or your account.
We don't sell your content. We don't use it to train AI models. We never claim ownership of it.
Our content
The app design, code, brand, and the 50 sample recipes shipped with Mealhive belong to us. You're welcome to cook from the sample recipes (that's what they're for). Please don't copy the app's design or code wholesale.
AI features
Mealhive uses third-party AI (Anthropic's Claude API) to parse recipes you capture from URLs or photos. AI extraction can make mistakes. It might misread an ingredient, miss a step, or get a quantity wrong. Always sanity-check a captured recipe before you cook it. We're not responsible for outcomes that result from following an AI-parsed recipe blindly.
Changes to the service
We're a small team building in public. Features come and go. We might change the app, add new features, retire old ones, or shut down the service entirely. We'll do our best to give you notice for material changes, and you can always export your data first (Settings → Export).
Ending your account
You can delete your account any time from Settings → Delete Account. Everything is removed from our live systems within 24 hours; backups are overwritten within 30 days.
We may terminate or suspend accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or pose a legal risk. We'll usually give you notice unless the situation requires immediate action.
As-is, no warranties
Mealhive is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly secure. We make no implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Mealhive, including lost data, lost time, missed meals, or grocery list mishaps. Where law requires us to be liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the preceding 12 months (which, for a free product, is zero).
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations; in those places, the limitations apply only to the extent permitted by law.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from content you upload, the way you use the app, or your violation of these terms or applicable law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Estonia. Disputes will be handled in the Estonian courts unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country says otherwise.
Changes to these terms
If we update the terms in a way that meaningfully changes your rights, we'll update the "Last updated" date and notify you by email or an in-app banner. Continuing to use Mealhive after a change means you accept the new terms. If you don't, you can delete your account.
